Scrapvenger Books Tutorial
Share
Scrapvenger Books are part scavenger hunt, part scrapbook. They are designed to create memories and preserve them for years to come.
Here's a quick rundown for how to use your Scrapvenger Book on your next trip.
Step 1: Bring your Scrapvenger Book with you .
Scrapvenger Books are intentionally small and lightweight so they can travel with you. Slip the book into a tote or backpack, and keep it with you during your whole trip.
Better yet, have your child carry the book themselves. It fits perfectly into most children's sized backpacks.
It's also a good idea to throw in a pen (or an ultra fine tip Sharpie for older kids).

Step 2: Complete the scavenger hunt.
Each book has 20 clues. They are usually things to do, look for, count, and sometimes try. Most clues can be completed in a variety of ways, so they can be done alongside your standing itinerary (in most cases.)
Take photos as you complete each clue. There is a prompt in each photo block, but you can also go with the flow and snap photos organically.
Tip! Some books have a mix of vertical and horizontal photo blocks, so keep an eye on that when you're taking your photos.
Some clues have space to track your progress or note specific details about your experience. You can also jot down notes, special memories, funny stories, as you go.
If you end up with any paper or flat items, be sure to keep those, too. Things like train tickets, restaurant business cards, or stickers can all go into your book later.
After you complete each item, check it off at the top of the page. (There's also a checklist page at the end of each book, if you prefer.)
Step 3: Create your scrapbook.
The fun continues even after your trip. Now it's time to really build out your scrapbook.
First, go through your photos and print copies (4x6) of the ones you want to add to your book. Be sure to print at least one photo for each clue, but don't stop there. There's lots of extra space in the book to attach extra photos for all of your favorite memories.
Depending on what book you, you might also need to trim your photos to fit the photo block.
Tip! Use a sheet of white paper and a ruler to trace a photo block from your book. Cut it out. Use that as a stencil, and trace it on the back of each photo you want to include. Cut out the photo along the lines and it should fit perfectly in your book.
Attach the photos to your book using a double-sided tape runner. If you have any flat mementos or extra photos, add those too. There's a blank page beside each clue, and at the end.
Add any extra notes, memories, dates or details to your book. You can also embellish your book with things like washi tape, stickers, markers.

Step 4: Relive your trip anytime.
Enjoy the memories from your trip for years to come!
